Coronavirus Update - 8.04.2021

Published on 10 April 2021 at 12:08

The Welsh Government have issued a written statement, and there is coverage in this evening's press that due to the improving coronavirus situation in Wales dates for the return of sport have been brought forward.

As we understand

  • Outdoor Group activity for up to 30 adults can restart from the 26 April, where it had previously been the 3 May.
  • Indoor sporting facilities, including gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools will be able to reopen on the 3 May for individual activity, previously the 10th May.
  • Gatherings of up to 15 indoors for exercise classes etc will return on the 17th May, as previously planned.

This is excellent news for the sector and we welcome the Welsh Government's movement to bring forward the easing of restrictions as much as possible given the improving picture, and that in doing so they have sought to prioritise sport and exercise.
